Guidance Team Meeting
August 12, 2002
Members Present: Tom and

Waters, Jef Tobias, Jo Eller
Nell Morris opened the meeting with prayer.
Tom Morris brought the meeting to order.
Minutes from July Meeting:

MUSIC:
The Christmas Musical has been chosen.
Sept. 15th after church is first rehearsal with Pot Luck Dinner. Dee Goudelock is narrator.
FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION:
No report. Billy left note that information would be
posted by next Sunday.
FACILITIES AND MAINTANENCE:
The cubbies are in the nursery, the light over the kitchen sink has
been installed, and the locks were put on the doors. White folded paper towels are needed for dispensers in bathrooms.
We got the money to put Steeple onto the church. We will have to get to Alabama
and hopefully have it installed by Christmas.
PASTOR SUPPORT TEAM:
This team is dissolved.
CHILDREN:
New curriculum has been ordered and all age classes will stay the same.
There are also some other people that have expressed wanting to teach.
EXTENDED CARE:
A questionnaire has been written out, and will be given to the parents
of the children for them to fill out.
TLC:
Cards were sent to some people. No major events.
PASSPORT:
The children were sent to Passport and they raised enough money and
there is about $240 left in the Bank Account.
SHEPHERDS:
The Shepherds are going to stay in place for the time being. Announcements will be made to try to get new
people to come on so that some of the current ones can roll off.
FELLOWSHIP TEAM:
Pot Luck dinner at 5:30 on August 25th.
CHURCH POLICIES AND PROCEDURES AD-HOC TEAM:
New Policies Statement, Procedures for Resolving Complaints, and
Disclosure form. Each person working
with children or youth will be required to fill this out and it will be kept in
a file. An ethics team with 3 members
representing both genders will be elected to take care of these documents. This
team will be re-elected each year. Each person that will be working with
children will be given information pertaining to Sexual Harassment and they
will be given a short test that lets the team know that they understand the
information. Each SLED check will be
$8.00. The motion was carried unanimously.
WORSHIP PLANNING AND PASTOR REPORT:
SEPT. 13TH AND 14TH is our 2nd
Strategic Planning Retreat. 7:00–9:00
Friday, 9:00-2:00 Sat. Belk is having a
Charity Shopping Day on Oct. 12th.
We can sell tickets for $5.00 and we will be able to keep all monies.
NEW BUSINESS:
Airport High School students would like to park in our lot. Billy will check into Insurance and if all
is well, we will charge $50 per decal for the entire school year. Forms will be
drawn up for the students and parents to sign.
The monies will go into the Youth Fund. Signs will be posted that the
students are parking at their own risk.
A motion was drawn to have Billy Bland check into the liability of us
allowing the students to park in our lot. Check with principal and make sure it
is ok. He will then have the permission
of the Guidance Team to issue decals and collect monies. The motion carried.
The church will give a Bible to the New Hope Boys that are leaving the
home. The motion carried.
Beth Zboran requested to use the church fellowship hall on the third
Tuesday of each month for the Red SHIELD home school group. The use was
approved.
The Banners in the Sanctuary look great.
Jef closed the meeting with prayer.
